Penderyn launches first whisky from its North Wales distillery


The Welsh whisky producer has unveiled Serpent’s Tears, a peated single malt from its Llandudno website.

That is ‘the “first of its sort” peated whisky to be made in Wales since Frongoch Distillery closed over 100 years in the past,’ in line with Penderyn.

The whisky, which was launched on 17 July, marks ‘a proud second for our crew and for Welsh whisky as a complete’, stated Stephen Davies, CEO of Penderyn.

The inaugural launch from grasp blender Aista Phillips and crew is impressed by the encircling Nice Orme headland, the title of which comes from the Previous Norse that means ‘Nice Serpent’. It’s a nod to the longevity of the realm, which stood the take a look at of time by dinosaurs and the Ice Age, filling sea-farers with concern. Penderyn opened the North Wales facility in 2021. Its first website within the Brecon Beacons was established in 2000 and in 2023 it based a 3rd website in Swansea.


Serpent’s Tears

Aromas of recent lemon, apple and white pear interwoven with peaty smoke and clove. It evolves on the palate, delivering smoked almond, tarte tatin, raisin and star anise.
