Classic-dated, estate-grown wine? Positive. Classic-dated, estate-grown, non-alcoholic wine? That’s a rarity.
Bouchaine‘s new rose is constituted of 100% pinot noir grown at its personal vineyards. Let’s dig in.
The wine is refreshing and gently fruity, although barely gummy with overtones of pastry dough and ultimately notes of nutmeg. The chewiness helps to evoke a bolder physique that isn’t all the time current in non-alcoholic wines, and which retains the wine from meandering too near fruit juice territory. Parts of honeydew melon, lemon curd, and honeysuckle make for a wonderfully summery expertise — although the berry-laced fruit notes endemic to most rose wines are surprisingly elusive. Excellent for a sober summer season!
