Nobel Insurgent is a spread of blended malt whiskies, created by the Loch Lomond group and launched late 2023. It comprises single malts from Loch Lomond and Glen Scotia distilleries. Every expression is constructed round a unique profile. We’re attempting Orchard Outburst, which focuses on fruity notes and vanilla, as anticipated from ex-bourbon casks.
Noble Insurgent – Orchard Outburst (46%, OB 2024, blended malt, ex-bourbon casks)
Nostril: gentle and pleasant. Loads of crisp apples and pears, together with some lime and foam bananas. Then some grassy and blossomy touches, together with spring honey. There’s some white pepper tingle and a touch of custard powder as effectively. Barely sharp however enticing.
Mouth: fairly punchy once more, with plenty of inexperienced fruits now. Lime, grapefruit, inexperienced apple. Mild vanilla, later some peach as effectively. Then zesty / waxy notes come out, together with a saline contact. Grassy notes with hints of cinnamon, extra white pepper and delicate wildflowers. The inexperienced character makes it a tad sharp and slim in direction of the tip.
End: medium, with pepper, inexperienced grape and a touch of ginger.
This can be a very shiny and accessible blended malt. It has loads of fruity notes at its core, however I assume the Glen Scotia provides a number of (barely) rebellious parts too. General a pleasant summer time pour at a pleasant value. Obtainable from The Whisky Trade or Grasp of Malt and loads of different retailers.
